Laurie Smith Named Principal of North Middlesex Regional High School

TOWNSEND — Superintendent Brad Morgan is pleased to announce the appointment of Laurie Smith as Principal of North Middlesex Regional High School, effective immediately.

Principal Smith has been serving as Interim Principal since July.

Smith joined the District in 1998, when she was hired as a Guidance and School Adjustment Counselor at NMRHS. She served as Assistant Principal beginning in 2016, and was named Interim Principal as part of a cost-saving administrative restructuring.

“I am deeply honored and privileged to be named the next Principal of NMRHS,” she said. “Having worked in this district for over 25 years in various capacities, I can confidently say that the North Middlesex community – our incredible faculty, students, parents, and colleagues – are truly among the best. I’m excited to begin this next chapter with all of you and to see what we can achieve together.”

Superintendent Morgan has been serving as Smith’s mentor, working from the High School building. He will continue to perform administrative duties.

“With 25 years of experience as a building leader and superintendent, I have never worked with a more committed and passionate leader,” Superintendent Morgan said. “I am confident that Mrs. Smith will succeed in this new role and will continue to be an asset to the North Middlesex community.”
