Healey-Driscoll Administration Awards North Middlesex Regional High School a Financial Literacy Grant

Exciting News from North Middlesex Regional High School!

Superintendent Brad Morgan is thrilled to announce that North Middlesex Regional High School has been awarded a financial literacy grant from the Healey-Driscoll Administration.

In a recent development, the school secured a $5,350 FC:104 Financial Literacy Planning and Implementation Grant earlier this month. This grant program supports schools in material selection, curriculum development, professional development, and in-person or virtual learning related to financial literacy.

The initiative took flight after seniors Joshua Gallagher, Jackson Bailey, and Jack Amari proposed financial literacy initiatives at the November School Committee meeting. Their Civic Action Project (CAP) last spring highlighted a lack of financial literacy among students statewide.

Building on their findings, the trio decided to bring the Credit for Life Fair to North Middlesex this spring, utilizing the grant funding. This fair aims to equip students with real-life fiscal expectations, responsibilities, and money-management skills, preparing them for life beyond high school.

Additionally, the grant will fund a Financial Literacy course for the next school year. This course empowers students with essential knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions, manage personal finances, and build a strong foundation for financial well-being. From budgeting to investing, this course ensures students navigate the complexities of financial life.

About the Credit for Life Program:

Credit for Life Fairs immerse students in building a hypothetical budget. Assigned a monthly income, students make financial decisions at tables overseen by local banks, businesses, and community volunteers, covering topics like insurance, transportation, savings, and retirement. This hands-on experience fosters a better understanding of healthy spending choices, the importance of budgeting, and complex financial decision-making.

Stay tuned for the incredible impact these initiatives will make!
